We just finished a job in Mount Juliet that didn't go the way I wanted it to.


It was a tough one from the start. Heavy structural repair, rough conditions, one of the harder jobs we've done this year. We got it done, but when we stepped back and looked at it, we were about 90% satisfied. There was a 10% section that the homeowner wasn't happy with.


And honestly, I could see why.


A lot of companies talk about standing behind their work. It's on every website, in every sales pitch. But the real test isn't when everything goes smooth. It's what happens when something doesn't go right.


That's what this is about. What we did when the homeowner called with concerns, and what you should expect from any crawl space company when things don't go perfect.

What Made This Job So Challenging

Some crawl spaces are straightforward. You know what you're dealing with, you have a plan, and the work goes as expected.


This wasn't one of those.


We were doing structural repair work. The starting conditions were rough. Tight access, old damage that had been ignored for years, the kind of job where you're problem-solving at every step.


We knew going in it was going to be difficult. And we handled most of it well. But there was one section that didn't come out the way it should have. Not because we didn't care. Just because sometimes on a really hard job, you miss something.


That's the reality. No company is perfect. But what matters is what you do when you realize something's not right.

When the Homeowner Called

The homeowner called today and told us he had concerns about part of the job. He wasn't happy with one section, and he wanted us to come take a look.


We didn't push back. We didn't make excuses. We didn't tell him we'd get to it when the schedule opened up.


Trevor and I were at his house in Mount Juliet within two hours.


We walked the crawl space with him. We listened to what he was seeing and why it didn't meet his expectations. And we made a plan right there to fix it.


That's how it should work. When a customer calls with a concern, you show up. You listen. You handle it.

How We're Making It Right

We're going back out tomorrow to take care of the touchups. Then we're coming back the day after that to do another full quality check and make sure everything is dialed in.


No arguments. No delays. We're just going to make it right.


Will it take extra time? Yes. Will it cost us more than we planned? Probably. But that's not the point. The point is we told this homeowner we'd take care of him, and that's what we're going to do.


By the time we're done, I know he's going to be happy. Because we're going to jump through whatever hoops we need to jump through to get there.

What Most Companies Do Instead

I've heard enough stories from homeowners to know how this usually goes.


You call a company with a concern. They tell you they'll look into it. Maybe they come back out in a few weeks when they have time. Maybe they send you some photos and tell you it looks fine from their end. Maybe they just stop returning your calls.


A lot of companies will fight you on whether the work was actually done right. They'll blame the conditions. They'll say you're being too picky. They'll make you feel like you're the problem for expecting what you paid for.


That's not how it should be. But it happens all the time.


When a company doesn't want to own their work, you end up spending your time and energy fighting for something that should have been handled from the start.

What Homeowners Should Expect

If you're hiring someone to work on your crawl space, you need to know how they handle problems before you sign anything.


Ask them what happens if you're not satisfied with part of the job. Ask them how quickly they'll come back out if there's a concern. Ask them who you're going to talk to if something needs to be fixed.


A good company will give you straight answers. They'll tell you they're going to make it right, and they'll mean it. A bad company will give you vague promises and hope you don't follow up.


And here's the thing - you shouldn't have to fight for what you paid for. If a company did the work, they should stand behind it. If they don't, you hired the wrong people.


Pay attention to how they respond when things get hard. That tells you everything you need to know.

We're not perfect. I said it in the video and I'll say it here. We make mistakes. We miss things sometimes. That's the reality of doing difficult work.


But we show up. We listen. And we make it right.
