Learning New Skills to Serve You Better: Our First Radon System Installation

Introduction

Radon Systems to Keep Nashville Safer

WE SAW A NEED FOR RADON TO BE HANDLED PROPERLY

You know what I love about running my own crawl space business?

There's always something new to learn.

After 12 years of protecting homes in Middle Tennessee, I'm still finding ways to grow our services and help more homeowners.

Today, I want to tell you about our latest step forward - installing our first radon system.

Now, I know what you might be thinking: "Josh, aren't you the crawl space guy?"

You're right.

But here's the thing - protecting your home from moisture and protecting it from radon often go hand in hand.

It's all about making your home safer and healthier.

The Opportunity

This opportunity came to us through a local pest control company. They needed someone who really knows crawl spaces to install a radon system for one of their customers. Instead of saying "that's not what we do," I saw it as a chance to expand our expertise.

Here's what made me take on this challenge: I've been under thousands of homes in Middle Tennessee. I understand how they're built, how they handle moisture, and how air moves through them. Installing a radon system isn't rocket science - it's mostly about proper plumbing and understanding airflow.

These are things we already know well from our crawl space work.

  • A basement with a lot of insulation and a light on the ceiling.

  • A basement with a lot of pipes and columns

  • An empty basement with a wooden ceiling and white walls.

Understanding Radon Systems

Let me break down what a radon system does in simple terms. Think of it like a vacuum that pulls harmful gases from under your house and safely releases them above your roof. If you've got a crawl space or basement, these systems can be a crucial part of keeping your home's air healthy.

This fits naturally with what we already do. We're experts at handling moisture, pests, and air quality issues under your home. Adding radon protection is just another way we can help make your home safer.

Our Learning Process

I believe in learning things right the first time. That's why I handled this first installation personally. Just like I check every crawl space job myself, I wanted to understand every detail of installing a radon system properly.

The basics weren't too different from what we already know - proper piping, careful sealing, and making sure everything's installed correctly. We took our time, double-checked our work, and made sure everything was done right. The electrician's coming tomorrow to finish up the final connections, and I'll be there to make sure it all comes together perfectly.

What This Means for Our Customers

So what does this mean for you? Simple - we can now offer another layer of protection for your home. If you're worried about radon, you won't have to hire multiple contractors. You'll get the same careful attention to detail and quality work we're known for with our crawl space services.

Just like with our crawl space work, we won't rush into anything. We'll make sure we understand your specific situation and needs. And just like always, we'll give you honest advice about whether you need this service or not. No upselling, no pressure - just straight talk about what's best for your home.

  • A basement with a lot of pipes and columns

  • An empty basement with a wooden ceiling and white walls.

Moving Forward

Here's what you can expect from us as we add radon systems to our services: We'll take the same careful approach we're known for with crawl spaces. No rushing, no cutting corners. Every system will get my personal attention, just like every crawl space does.

We're not trying to become the biggest radon company in Middle Tennessee. That's not our style. We're growing carefully, learning thoroughly, and focusing on quality over quantity. Just like we've done for the past 12 years with crawl spaces.

I'm excited about this new service because it's one more way we can help protect your home. But don't worry - we're not changing who we are or how we do business. We're just adding another tool to our toolbox.

I just pulled my first dehumidifier installation from a crawl space in Nashville. June 2019 - that's when we put this Santa Fe unit in, and it's been running strong until now. Six and a half years of solid performance, annual maintenance, and now it's time for retirement.

Just wrapped up another crawl space transformation in Columbia, and this one tells a story I see pretty often.
