Behind the Scenes at Crawl Logic: New Car and Big Projects

Introduction

What We're Working On

UPDATES FROM THE FIELD

Just got back from Florida late last night. Picked up a new sales car while I was down there, got a few inspections lined up for today, and we're putting the finishing touches on a project I can't wait to tell you about.

This isn't the usual crawl space tips and advice. Just wanted to give you a quick look at what's happening behind the scenes at Crawl Logic right now.

We're a small company. I do all the inspections myself. So when things change or when we land a job that's worth talking about, I like to share it. Keeps things honest. Keeps you in the loop.

The New Sales Car: Why It Matters

The new car is a Corolla hybrid. Gets about 50 miles a gallon.

That might not sound like a big deal, but when you're driving all over Nashville and the surrounding counties doing inspections, fuel costs add up fast. A more efficient car means I can cover more ground without burning through the budget.

It's one of those small decisions that makes the business run smoother. I can get out to see you faster. I can take on more inspections without worrying about what I'm spending just to get there. And it keeps our overhead low, which means we stay focused on what actually matters - doing quality work at a fair price.

Staying lean isn't about cutting corners. It's about being smart with resources so we can keep doing things the right way.

The Historic Property Project

A few weeks ago, I got a phone call about a job. A historic property that needed crawl space work. The kind of project you don't see every day.

They told me what it was, and I was immediately like, yes, I want that job. This is the kind of thing that doesn't come around twice. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

A lot of companies bid on it. We won.

I can't give you all the details yet - we're still wrapping it up and I want to show you the finished work. But it's been a good reminder that when you stay focused on quality and build a reputation over time, you get opportunities like this. The kind that bigger companies wanted, but we were the ones they trusted to do it right.

Should be done in the next week or two. Can't wait to share it with you.

How We Won the Job

We didn't win this job because we were the cheapest. We won it because we've spent years building trust in this community.

When you do good work, people notice. When you show up on time, document everything, and treat every job like it's your own home, that reputation follows you. Word gets around.

Staying small gives us an edge. I'm the one doing the inspections. I'm the one overseeing the work. There's no disconnect between what gets promised and what actually happens. That consistency matters, especially on a job like this where the stakes are high and the margin for error is slim.

Bigger companies have more crews and more resources. But they don't have the same level of accountability. When something goes wrong, you're dealing with a project manager or a call center. With us, you're dealing with me.

That's why we got the call. And that's why we'll keep getting them.

What's Coming Next

We're in the final stretch on the historic job. Another week, maybe two, and it'll be done. I'll share photos and details once we wrap it up. It's something I'm proud of, and I think you'll see why.

In the meantime, I've got inspections scheduled. Jobs in progress. The usual grind of running a small business and making sure every customer gets taken care of.

We're not trying to grow into some massive operation. We're trying to stay focused, stay excellent, and keep serving Nashville the right way. That's the plan. That's what we're working toward.

Why We Share These Updates

A lot of companies don't talk about this stuff. They keep everything behind closed doors. You see the marketing, but you don't see how things actually run.

I think that's a mistake.

You're trusting us with your home. You're calling us when there's a problem or when you need work done. The least I can do is let you see how we operate. What we're working on. How we make decisions. Why we do things the way we do.

Transparency builds trust. And trust is the whole point. I'm not just trying to close jobs. I'm trying to build relationships with people in this community. That means being real about the business - the wins, the challenges, the day-to-day stuff that goes into making it work.

So yeah, I'll keep sharing updates like this. Because you deserve to know who you're working with.

This is my crawl space. Finally got it finished. You know what's funny about running a crawl space company? My own house was one of the last ones to get done. I've been so busy taking care of customers that mine kept getting pushed back. Classic case of the cobbler's kids having no shoes.

I'm in Spring Hill today, about five minutes from my house. This is a crawl space we did four years ago - spray foam encapsulation, dehumidifier, sump pump, the whole system. The homeowner called for his annual service. I'm here to clean the condensate pump, change some batteries, and make sure everything's still runn
Why I video every crawl space inspection in Nashville, with crawl space camera on tripod

I was in a crawl space in Nashville yesterday. About 2,400 square feet. The homeowner had already gotten a quote from one of those big three-letter companies - almost $60,000 for a soda blast and full remediation. I'm walking through the space with my camera, and I'm not seeing it. There's some fungus, sure. But nothi
