From One Crew to Three: Growing a Crawl Space Business Without Losing Our Values

Introduction

Growing While Staying True

A MESSAGE ABOUT FAMILY, TRUST, AND DOING THINGS RIGHT

I never set out to build a big company.

When I started Crawl Logic, my goal was simple - do honest work and take care of people's homes like they're my own.

But something interesting happens when you stick to your values: people notice, and business grows.

Today, I'm taking a few days away from inspections while my wife recovers from surgery.

That might surprise some people - taking time off while we're growing faster than ever.

But it's exactly this kind of decision that built our business in the first place.

Family comes first, always has, always will.

And honestly, that's how we treat our customers too.

Our Foundation: Where We Started

Back when we started, it was just me and my crew. Every inspection, every job, every detail went through me personally. We built our reputation in Nashville one crawl space at a time. No fancy marketing, no sales gimmicks - just honest assessments, clear documentation, and quality work.

I learned something important in those early days: homeowners don't want a sales pitch. They want someone who'll shoot straight with them, show them exactly what's happening under their house, and fix it right the first time. They want someone who treats their home like it matters, because it does.

That's why we stayed small for so long. I wanted to make sure every job met our standards. But as our reputation grew, so did the demand. People started asking when we'd expand to their area. The thing is, I wasn't going to grow until I knew we could do it without compromising what made us successful in the first place.

Growing the Right Way

Adding more crews wasn't just about hiring people - it was about finding the right people. Every person we brought on needed to understand that we're not just fixing crawl spaces; we're taking care of families' homes. That's why we now have Ryan and Trevor leading teams. They get it. They understand our way of doing things.

Choosing Chattanooga for expansion wasn't random. We had people there asking for our help, and we knew we could serve them with the same quality we provide in Nashville. Every new location starts with the same foundation: honest inspections, clear documentation, and treating people right.

The Family Factor

Right now, I'm out of the field for a few days while my wife recovers from surgery. That's not just a personal decision - it's a reflection of how we run our business. When you build a company on family values, those values show up in every decision you make.

Our crews understand this too. They know that every crawl space they work on is part of someone's home. It's where families live, where kids play, where memories are made. That's why we train our teams to treat every job like they're working on their own family's home.

Our Current Structure

Running three crews now means we can help more people, but it also means being extra careful about maintaining our standards. Each crew follows the same process I developed over years of hands-on work: thorough inspections, complete documentation with 4K video and photos, and no cutting corners.

Ryan and Trevor aren't just team leaders - they're extensions of our values. They know that being the biggest isn't our goal. Being the best, most trusted name in crawl space work is what matters. That's why even with multiple crews, we still maintain the same attention to detail that built our reputation in the first place.

Looking Forward

The growth we're seeing isn't just about numbers. We've got plans for two more locations, but we're taking our time to do it right. Each new area has to be a perfect fit - somewhere we can provide the same level of service that made us Middle Tennessee's most trusted crawl space company.

I'll be honest - growing a business while maintaining personal standards isn't easy. But I've learned that if you stick to your values, the right opportunities come along. The key is never forgetting what got you here: treating every customer's home like it's your own.

Thank You to Our Customers

None of this growth would be possible without the trust our customers have placed in us. Every five-star review, every referral, every word-of-mouth recommendation - that's what built this business. You trusted us with your homes, and that trust means everything.

When I look back at how we've grown from one crew to three, with more expansion on the horizon, I'm thankful for every customer who gave us a chance to prove ourselves. You're the reason we can now help more families across Tennessee have safer, healthier homes.

Yesterday's crawl space inspection taught me something I already knew, but it hit home again: sometimes the hardest part of this job isn't the technical work - it's being honest with people when others aren't.

Just this week, I met with a homeowner who'd been told something that made me shake my head: "concrete walls don't allow moisture through." This is exactly the kind of misinformation that costs homeowners thousands in the long run. After 11 years in crawl spaces and 6 years running my own business, I've heard it all. B

I've seen it thousands of times during inspections: crawl spaces turned into convenient dumping grounds for contractors. Just yesterday, I was looking under a house in Nashville and found exactly what I hate seeing - piles of old materials, packaging, and construction debris just left behind.
