How We Handle Dehumidifier Repairs for Nashville Homeowners

Introduction

Dehumidifier Repair and Maintenance

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG

Got a call this morning from a customer who noticed their humidity was climbing. They checked the sensor we installed during their encapsulation and saw the numbers creeping up. So they called me.

I grabbed my repair kit and headed out. Found the issue, fixed it on the spot, and they were back up and running. They didn't pay a dime for the service call or the repair. That's how our warranty program works.

Most companies handle this differently. You call about a problem and they either can't get out there for weeks or they start adding up charges before they even look at the unit. Service call fee. Diagnostic fee. Parts and labor.

We don't work that way. If you're a Crawl Logic customer and something goes wrong with your dehumidifier, you call me and I take care of it.

What I Keep in the Truck

I carry a full repair kit with me. Drill, box cutter, T25 bits, extra batteries, replacement tubing, and a box of parts. I keep the bigger items like fans in a separate container, but everything I need for most repairs is right there in the vehicle.

That means when you call, I'm not running to a supplier or waiting on parts to ship. I can handle most issues same day.

It's a simple thing, but it makes a difference. Your dehumidifier stops working and you want it fixed now, not two weeks from now.

  • A basement with a lot of pipes and columns

  • An empty basement with a wooden ceiling and white walls.

What I Can (and Can't) Repair

I can fix just about anything on these AprilAire dehumidifiers. I've been working on them long enough that I can take one apart with my eyes closed.

Faulty sensor? I'll replace it. Bad battery backup? Got spares in the truck. Tubing issues, electrical problems, fan motor - I can handle all of it on-site.

The only thing I can't repair is refrigerant-related issues. If it's a refrigerant problem, we replace the unit under the AprilAire five-year manufacturer warranty. No charge to you.

Everything else? I fix it and you're back in business.

How Our Warranty Program Works

Here's what you pay as a Crawl Logic customer. Two hundred dollars a year for your annual maintenance visit. That's it.

Service calls are free. Repairs are free. I come out, I fix the problem, you don't get a bill for parts or labor.

After the five-year manufacturer warranty expires, if the unit fails completely and needs to be replaced, you pay my cost for the new dehumidifier. No markup. And I reinstall it for free.

That's the deal. Simple, straightforward, no surprises.

Why Most Companies Handle This Differently

A lot of companies sell you the encapsulation, install the dehumidifier, and then you're on your own. Something breaks six months later and suddenly you're paying a service call fee just to get someone out there. Then parts. Then labor. It adds up fast.

Or worse, they can't get to you for weeks because they're focused on new installs, not taking care of existing customers.

I've seen it happen too many times. That's why we built our warranty program the way we did. Because once the job is done, that's when the real relationship starts. You should have someone you can call who actually picks up the phone and shows up when you need them.

What You Should Expect From Your Crawl Space Company

If you're getting quotes for crawl space work, ask about what happens after the install. What does their warranty actually cover? Do they charge for service calls? How long does it take them to get out there if something goes wrong?

A good company will give you straight answers. They'll explain their warranty in plain language. They'll tell you exactly what you're responsible for and what they handle.

If they're vague about post-installation support or if the warranty is buried in fine print, that's a red flag. You're making a big investment in your home. You deserve to know who's going to be there when you need help.

For six and a half years, we didn't take deposits at Crawl Logic. You called, we came out, we gave you a quote. If you wanted the work done, we scheduled it. When the job was finished and you were happy, you paid us.

I just finished an inspection in Nashville. The crawl space was already encapsulated. At least, that's what the homeowner thought when they bought the house. What I found told a different story.

I got a call from a homeowner in Nashville the other day. Their humidity monitor was showing levels over 65 percent for more than a week straight. That's the exact thing I tell people to watch for. When humidity stays that high for seven days or more, something's not right. Call me and I'll come take a look.
