A Year of Breakthroughs: What I'm Grateful For This Thanksgiving

Introduction

A Moment to Say Thanks

REFLECTING ON GROWTH, GRATITUDE, AND WHAT REALLY MATTERS

It's Thanksgiving week, and I'm out checking jobs and inspecting crawl spaces like usual.

But this year feels different.

As I'm driving between sites, I keep thinking about how much has changed since January.

Not just in business, but in life.

You know, it's easy to keep your head down and just push forward - next job, next goal, next challenge.

But Thanksgiving forces you to stop and look back.

And when I do that this year, I'm honestly amazed at how far we've come.

More importantly, I'm grateful for every person who helped make it happen.

This isn't just a business update.

It's a thank you to everyone who believed in what we're building at Crawl Logic.

Because none of this growth would mean anything without the trust you've placed in us.

Where We Started 2024

Back in January, Crawl Logic was me and two crew members. That's it. We were doing good work in Nashville, building our reputation one crawl space at a time. But I'll be honest - the few years before that were tough. Really tough. Both personally and in business.

There were moments when I wasn't sure how things would turn out. You question yourself. You wonder if you're on the right path. You worry about taking care of your family and your team. Anyone who's run a small business through hard times knows exactly what I'm talking about.

But we kept showing up. Kept doing quality work. Kept treating people right. And slowly, things started to shift. We weren't just surviving anymore - we were positioned to grow. The question was whether we were ready to take that step without losing what made us who we are.

The Breakthroughs That Changed Everything

The big move this year was expanding to Chattanooga. That wasn't just about adding another location - it was about proving we could grow while maintaining our standards. People had been asking us to come to their area, and we finally felt ready to do it right.

But expansion isn't just about geography. We added key team members who understood our mission. People who get that we're not just fixing crawl spaces - we're taking care of families' homes. Finding those people, training them, watching them step up - that's been one of the biggest wins of this year.

We also brought in a mentor to help guide our growth. Because I know what I don't know. Getting advice from someone who's been through this journey before has made a huge difference in how we're scaling the business.

The Tough Years That Led Here

I mentioned those difficult years, and I think it's important to talk about them. Not to dwell on the hard times, but because they shaped everything good that's happening now.

When business is slow and money's tight, you learn what really matters. You figure out who you are and what you stand for. Those years taught me that shortcuts don't work. That your reputation is everything. That treating people right isn't just good business - it's the only way to build something that lasts.

The personal struggles made me a better business owner too. When you go through tough times, you develop empathy for your customers who are dealing with their own challenges. You understand that spending money on home repairs isn't easy for most families. That changes how you do business.

What Growth Really Looks Like

Going from a three-person operation to multiple locations sounds impressive on paper. But the real growth isn't in the numbers - it's in the systems, the relationships, the trust we've built.

Every new team member has to learn our way of doing things. The 4K video documentation, the detailed photos, the honest assessments, the no-pressure approach. That takes time and intention. But it's worth it because our reputation depends on consistency.

The hardest part of growing? Making sure we don't lose the family-first values that got us here. That means sometimes saying no to opportunities that would compromise our standards. It means I still take time off when family needs me, even during our busiest season. Because if we lose that, we've lost everything that makes us different.

Gratitude for Our Customers

Here's the truth: none of this growth happens without you. Every customer who chose us over the big corporate companies with their billboards and fancy marketing - you made this possible.

Every five-star review, every referral to a neighbor, every time you trusted us with your home - that's what built Crawl Logic. We didn't grow because of advertising budgets or sales tactics. We grew because you believed in what we were doing and told other people about it.

When I look at our expansion to Chattanooga and the new locations we're planning, I see your trust reflected in every step. You gave a small, local business a chance. And that means everything.

Faith and Business

I've got to give credit where it's really due. I'm grateful to God for opening these doors and guiding us through the tough years to get here. There were plenty of moments when I didn't see a way forward, but looking back now, I can see how it all came together.

Faith isn't separate from business for me - it shapes how I make decisions, how I treat people, how I handle both success and struggle. When times were hard, faith kept me steady. Now that things are going well, it reminds me to stay humble and grateful.

I don't take any of this for granted. The breakthroughs, the growth, the opportunities ahead - I recognize these as blessings, and I'm committed to being a good steward of what we're building.

Looking Toward 2026

We've got another location in the works. The team keeps growing. The opportunities keep coming. 2026 is shaping up to be our biggest year yet. But today, during Thanksgiving week, I'm not focused on what's next. I'm focused on appreciating what is.

That said, I'm excited about the future. Every expansion means more families we can help, more homes we can protect, more team members we can support. As long as we keep our values at the center of everything we do, I'm confident we're heading in the right direction.

The mission stays the same: honest work, clear documentation, treating every home like it's our own. Everything else is just details.

This Thanksgiving

So this week, while I'm out checking jobs and inspecting crawl spaces, I'm carrying a lot of gratitude with me. For my team who shows up every day ready to do quality work. For my wife who supports this crazy journey. For our customers who made this growth possible. And for God's faithfulness through it all.

If you're reading this, you're probably part of our story somehow. Maybe you're a customer, maybe you're thinking about working with us, maybe you're just interested in what we're doing. Whatever the case, thank you for being here.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Crawl Logic.

Not every crawl space problem can be fixed with plastic and a dehumidifier. Sometimes, when you look under a house, you find serious structural issues - failing joists, rotted beams, subflooring that's beyond saving. That's when you need more than a typical crawl space company.

Want to know if your crawl space contractor actually cares about quality? Look at where they put your dehumidifier. I know that sounds too simple, but after 12 years in this business, I can tell you that this one detail says everything about a contractor's work ethic.

When I do inspections, I always explain the five sources of moisture in crawl spaces. Not because I want to confuse people with technical stuff, but because understanding where moisture comes from helps you make better decisions about your home.
