I was down in Chattanooga celebrating my mom's birthday when I got an unexpected text. My mom, who's been enjoying retirement, told me she was bored.

Her First Inspection

The crawl space we inspected yesterday wasn't an easy introduction to the business. It was tight - only 16 or 17 inches of clearance. Old insulation hanging down, dust everywhere, no vapor barrier protecting the space. The kind of crawl space that even experienced inspectors find uncomfortable.



I gave my mom the option to wait outside. She could have just watched from a distance while I did the work. But that's not how she operates. She got down on her hands and knees and crawled through the entire space with me.


No complaints. No hesitation. Just determination to learn what this work actually involves. That's the kind of person you want inspecting your home - someone who's willing to get uncomfortable to understand what's really happening under there.

After the inspection, something interesting happened during the sales conversation. My mom started talking to the homeowner about my grandmother's crawl space. About six months ago, we encapsulated my grandmother's house for free. It needed work, and she's family, so we took care of it.
